Technology provides superior data integrity and faster incremental backups.

With this technology, a full backup only has to be performed once. From then on only incremental changes are uploaded. However, in contrast to tape backups, the most recent backup is always a full backup, and the deltas store how to get from a newer version to an older version.

Historical information for certain folders or files may not be needed. Customized settings can be associated with any folder or policy rule, allowing versioning to be customized at the finest granularity.

You may have hundreds or thousands of accounts to manage and need to know every day that all backups are successful and quickly troubleshoot any problems. This web portal page will allow you to view the status of the backup for all of your accounts. If any accounts had errors during the last backup, it will include the actual error messages.

Control excess disk usage.

Instead of setting a hard limit on their disk usage, many customers prefer to set a disk usage alert level instead. If their disk usage exceeds this amount, backups will continue to happen, but an email will be sent periodically informing the user.

Easily refine backup policies.

Sometimes files that should not be backed up are backed up, and disk usage unexpectedly increases rapidly. This will alert you if your disk usage changes too quickly (configurable), and will tell you the files that were uploaded that caused the greatest increase in disk usage.

Be informed when backups aren't happening.

Our servers will notice if a backup hasn't been initiated within a configurable time period and will alert you with an email.

No news is good news.

Be alerted only when there is a problem. You may prefer to only receive emails if there was a problem.

Stay informed of backup completion.

Successful backups now become as easy as reading an email in the morning. The email includes details on what occurred during the backup session, a historical disk usage graph, and other useful information.

Automatically recover from missed backups.

Computers may be off or down when backups are scheduled to occur. This ensures that the next time the computer is operational after a missed backup the backup will automatically begin.

Your laptop computer will wake to perform the backup and will go back to sleep when it's finished.

Precise bandwidth limits can be set during on and off hours, and these hours can be customized. Allows your backups to proceed during the day without impeding business operations.

The congestion control mechanisms in the underlying protocols ensure that bandwidth due to bandwidth will not stampede over your other applications, but will adaptively back off and let applications compete for bandwidth.

Most Internet connections go down from time to time. When this happens eFolder will automatically retry for several hours (configurable). An error is only issued if the connection could not be re-established. You will only be alerted if there was a permanent problem that probably needs your attention.

Local backups enjoy the same feature set as remote backups, including full file versioning.

Choose security vs recoverability.

On-disk encryption can be turned off for local backups if desired so that data can be recovered even if the pass phrase is forgotten. Changing this setting is as easy as checking a box.

Avoid the hassle of configuring other backup programs. After configuring remote backups, local backups can be configured in seconds by specifying the target path and schedule.

eFolder can automatically remap a network drive before the backup begins, ensuring that if the network drive was disconnected manual intervention is not required for backups to resume.

Get up and running quickly.

Some businesses may have tens or hundreds of GBs of data to backup, but can't wait the month or two it would require for the software to upload this much data using their ADSL or even T1 connection. These customers can perform the initial backup to a USB disk or portable RAID device and ship the device to eFolder, where it will then be loaded into their account. Incremental backups (which are quite small compared to the initial backup) will then begin automatically. A full backup never has to be performed again. The initial backup is fully encrypted and completely secure.

No one at eFolder or anyone else even has the ability to access your pass phrase or encryption key. It is computationally infeasible for us to access your key or decrypt your data.

A safety-net in case your other pass phrase recovery processes fail.

This process, exclusive to eFolder, allows you to recover your pass phrase if necessary. The process has been carefully engineered so that the recovery requires the cooperation of eFolder to recover the pass phrase, and yet at the same time it is computationally infeasible for eFolder to see your pass phrase under any circumstance. The use of this feature is optional if you prefer to exclusively rely on your own pass phrase recovery methods.

Have confidence that the data you restore is exactly the same as the data that was backed up.

Every block of data is tagged with a cryptographic seal. If your data is tampered with, the cryptographic seal is broken, and you will be alerted.
